HULK IS BACK: Rumors Suggest Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk Will Take a SCARIER and More BRUTAL Turn in Upcoming AVENGERS Films

Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk has been the resident strong-but-sweet genius, "Smart Hulk," ever since Avengers: Endgame. But according to recent rumors swirling around upcoming MCU projects, that era of the friendly giant might be coming to a very abrupt, and very brutal, end.

Word on the street is that Marvel is finally ready to unleash a Savage Hulk that is "scarier than ever before" in Phase 6, starting with a rumored appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and carrying through to Avengers: Doomsday.

What the Rumors Are Suggesting

The shift back to a more menacing Hulk comes after years of fans debating the "nerfed" or overly comical portrayal of Smart Hulk. Reliable industry whispers point to the following potential changes:

  • A Return to Savage: The biggest piece of gossip is that the Bruce Banner/Hulk merger is unstable, and the character will revert back to the classic, rage-fueled, Savage Hulk persona. Fans have been demanding this return to form, arguing that the monster needs to be monstrous again.

  • A Killer Hulk: In a startling detail, insiders suggest this new, darker version of the Hulk might be so out of control that he "might even kill someone." This would be a dramatic and brutal tonal shift, restoring the sense of danger that surrounded the Hulk in the early MCU phases.

  • The Stress of Gamma: The catalyst for this transformation is rumored to be Bruce Banner reaching his "wits' end." Apparently, the events involving Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk) and potentially Harrison Ford's Red Hulk have created so much stress about the uncontrolled spread of gamma-powered beings that it pushes Banner past his breaking point.

  • Setting Up Doomsday: The Hulk's appearance in the next Spider-Man film is reportedly not a standalone side-quest, but a critical stepping stone that establishes his new, destructive status quo leading into Avengers: Doomsday.

Why Now?

For years, the MCU was restricted in how it could use the Hulk due to distribution rights held by Universal Pictures. Now, with the character back in the spotlight for the new Saga and a clear desire to raise the stakes, bringing back a scarier Hulk is the perfect way to address fan critique and set up major future storylines.

Could this dark turn ultimately lead to a World War Hulk adaptation? While a full-blown solo movie is still uncertain, a brutal, out-of-control Hulk making a massive impact in the next Avengers films would certainly lay the groundwork for a major confrontation down the line.

What do you think? Are you ready for the return of a truly scary, unpredictable Hulk in the MCU?
